Where the rental desks are
The rental desks are in the arrivals hall, right by the baggage belts. Major brands and many local and international companies have a desk here. With some providers the car is a short walk away; others run a shuttle to a site just outside the airport.
02
Pick-up step by step
- 1Collect your luggage and follow the car hire signs in the arrivals hall.
- 2Check in with your driving licence, booking confirmation and the main driver's credit card.
- 3Check the fuel policy, excess, deposit and the insurance included.
- 4Walk around the car and photograph the wheels, windows, roof and fuel level.
- 5Have every existing scratch or dent noted down before you drive off.
03
On-airport versus shuttle
An on-airport provider has the car within walking distance. An off-airport provider is sometimes cheaper but runs a shuttle bus. Allow extra time in high season. If your booking mentions a meeting point or parking público, you are probably taking a shuttle or heading to an off-site car park.
04
Waiting times in high season
In July and August a lot of flights land at once. Use express or online check-in where you can, have your documents ready and book well in advance. Because of the vehicle limit, a last-minute car is usually expensive or simply unavailable.
05
What to bring to the desk
- A valid driving licence (EU and UK licences are accepted)
- Passport or national ID card
- A credit card in the main driver's name
- Your booking confirmation, digital or printed
- Proof of a separate excess insurance policy, if you have one
